Nimba design studio

Design With
a Human Thread

We are a small studio in TTDI, Kuala Lumpur, working on residential and commercial interiors with care, curiosity, and a steady hand.

Started With a Simple Belief

Nimba grew from a shared frustration with interiors that looked right in a photograph but felt hollow to live in. Our founders — both trained in spatial design and deeply influenced by the material culture of Southeast Asia — wanted to make something different.

We opened our TTDI studio because we believe design works best when it's close to the people it's for. We walk through your space, sit in it, understand how light moves through it at different hours. That knowledge shapes every decision we make.

Over the years we have worked on apartments in Mont Kiara, shophouse renovations in Bangsar, café fit-outs in Chow Kit, and family homes throughout the Klang Valley. What ties every project together is a commitment to spaces that age with dignity.

How We Work

The standards we hold ourselves to aren't framed on a wall — they show up in the details of every project.

Transparent Process

Every stage is documented and shared. You receive detailed briefs, material boards, and clear cost summaries. No surprises mid-project.

Professional Credentials

Members of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID). Our work meets professional standards for spatial safety, material compliance, and building regulation alignment.

Responsible Material Sourcing

We prefer locally available materials and suppliers with clear sourcing practices. Sustainability is a practical consideration in every material recommendation.

Client Confidentiality

We treat every project and client with discretion. We share work only with explicit permission. Your home is your private space — we respect that throughout our engagement.

Quality Site Inspections

During execution, we conduct structured site visits with documented punch lists. Our handover process checks every finish against the original specification.

Open Communication

We maintain a single point of contact for each client throughout the project. Questions are answered within one working day. We believe clarity reduces stress.

What Guides Every Decision

Interior design in Malaysia carries a particular richness — a layering of cultural reference, tropical climate considerations, and a growing appetite for spaces that feel personal rather than aspirational. Nimba sits at that intersection.

We draw on the textures of the region — the warmth of local timber, the geometry of traditional screens, the way a narrow corridor can be transformed by considered light. But we are not nostalgic. We use these references to make spaces that feel grounded and contemporary at once.

For residential clients, we pay close attention to how families actually use their homes — the paths between rooms, where people naturally gather, what gets used daily and what sits untouched. That observation shapes layout before aesthetics do.

For commercial clients, we think about atmosphere alongside function: how a space communicates the character of a business to someone stepping in for the first time, and how it sustains that feeling across a full working day.

Our studio is in TTDI because this neighbourhood reflects the kind of design we believe in — considered, unpretentious, and rooted in the life of the city.

Begin With a Conversation

We'd be glad to hear about your space — what it looks like now, what you'd want from it, and how we might help close that distance.
